François Weil

François Weil is a French historian specializing in North America, whose industrialization, migratory movements, urban history and historiography he studied. Director of studies at the École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS) since 2001, he was president from 7 March 2009 to 20 July 2012. Since 2011, he has been the leader of the Paris Novi Mundi University project, which brings together the members of PRES HESAM (Hautes Etudes Sorbonne Arts et Métiers). He was appointed Rector of the Paris Academy, Chancellor of Universities in the Council of Ministers on 18 July 2012.
Between May 21, 2021 and June 22, 2023, he was Education, Youth, Higher Education and Sports Advisor (Pole Head)2 to the Prime Minister, Élisabeth Borne.
