Dominique Vidal

Born in Paris in 1950, Dominique Vidal studied philosophy and history before becoming a journalist in 1973 in various publications, notably from 1988 to 1991 at the daily La Croix. From 1991 to 1995, he coordinated the international activities of the Centre de formation et de perfectionnement des journalistes. In 1996, he joined Le Monde diplomatique, where he became deputy editor in 1998. He left this position at the beginning of 2006 but remained a member of its editorial staff. A specialist in the Middle East and particularly in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Dominique Vidal has devoted many books to him, alone or in collaboration, notably with his colleague Alain Gresh. He is also the author of a synthesis of the work of the new German historians on the Holocaust. He is also the author of works on the suburbs. Since 2009, with Bertrand Badie, he has directed the annual delivery of L'État du monde to La Découverte. Dominique Vidal is a member of the board of Iremmo, whose debates he coordinates.
