Frank Sparing is a historian, lecturer and researcher at the University of Düsseldorf.
Frank Sparing (born 1963) is a German historian and author. It focuses on the period of National Socialism , especially on social and medical history as well as on the Porajmos .
Since the early 1990s, Sparing has been particularly interested in the recent history of European Roma and, in particular, the history of persecution in the National Socialist era.

In 1997, he and Kerstin Griese launched research on the Düsseldorf Academy of Medicine in the National Socialist era. This resulted in a collection of essays and other works. The Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger considered the book Racism, camps, genocide, written with Karola Fings, as «the first in-depth investigation into the persecution of gypsies by the Nazis in Cologne and its surroundings». Marc von Lüpke-Schwarz also commented positively on the work and the vast pool of sources assessed.
