Naaman Sluchin

Grandson of violinist Haïm Lipsky, son of a trombonist father and a violist mother, Naaman Sluchin studied violin with Mme Le Dizès at the CNR in Boulogne-Billancourt and piano with P.A. Gaye, obtaining a 1st prize in both disciplines. Born into a family of musicians, Naaman Sluchin naturally dedicated himself to the violin. He is passionate about novelty and diversity , and this is reflected throughout his artistic career.
For seven years, he was part of the Diotima quartet (which he left in 2011). Mixing classical and especially contemporary repertoires, with a multitude of creations, the quartet will have performed in the most prestigious halls and festivals, and will have recorded critically acclaimed records, including American Music (Reich-Crumb-Barber) produced by Naïve in October 2011 as well as the Janacek Quartets (golden tuning forks of the year, Classica shock).
2011-2012 will be a season of renewal for the Franco-Israeli violinist. Invited as solo violin in various orchestral projects, notably with the Philharmonic Chamber or the Musikcollegium of Winterthur, he will create the piano trio Talisma (specialized in the romantic repertoire on period instruments), as well as the group NASDAK , (which mixes classical music with Klezmer music). The season will also see him inaugurate his debut at Wigmore Hall in London, as well as in a musical show «Haim, à la lumière d'un violon» given for 30 performances at the Théâtre du 20 , in Paris.
Since 2010, Naaman Sluchin has also devoted his time to teaching by joining the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. At the same time, he began studying baroque violin in the class of Amandine Beyer at the Schola Cantorum in Basel.
Naaman had this tendency to eclecticism throughout his studies: he built his technique by studying both the Russian violin school (with B. Garlitsky) at the CNSM in Paris, the American school in Bloomington and the Juilliard School in New York (with M. Fried and D. Weilerstein), without forgetting the famous Franco-Belgian school in the direct lineage of the teaching of Eugène Ysaye (with Y. Kless).
Naaman has been playing a magnificent 1725 violin by Carlo Antonio Tononi since 2008, on a magnificent violin by Carlo Antonio Tononi from 1725.
