Simon Skira

Simon Skira arrived in Israel in 1967, at the age of 15, directly from Morocco. Wounded during the Kippur War (1973), he opted for rehabilitation through sport. He completed his studies at the National School of Physical Education Teachers of Beer-Sheva, in parallel to his work in the schools of Neguev Ofakim, Sdéroth and Beer-Sheva. He studied French literature and Jewish history at Ben-Gurion University.After receiving a scholarship from the French government in 1980, he began research on “sports activities of Jews in Morocco during the French Protectorate 1912-1956”.Founder of the Israel-Morocco Friendship Association and in this context he realizes, among other things, a long-standing dream: he receives for an international tournament in Tel Aviv the team of Morocco in football-In 2002, Simon Skira moved to France. He was Secretary-General of the Federation of Jews of Morocco in France.
He was chosen as the candidate of the Democratic Union for Freedom Equality Fraternity (UDLEF) in the 2019 European elections.

Simon Haim Skira is one of the great activists against the decision to deprive Moroccan Jews of their nationality.

In February 2021, the secretary general of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), Abdellatif Ouahbi, announces that Simon Skira will run in the regional elections for the presidency of the Casablanca-Settat region under the party’s colors
